Remembrance Sunday – 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

In different ways but always with emotion we remember those who died in World Wars and subsequent conflicts. War medals are worn with great pride and Commonwealth graves -such as those in Bear Road Cemetery and Northern France and Belgium are visited and tended with respect. This Year our minds are filled with the urgency of peace in the light of conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine. As we commenced November, we began with our prayers for family members and friends who have died and at the insistence of Pope Francis let us pray for peace each day.

Abide with me,

Fast falls the eventide,
The darkness deepens,
Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail,
and comforts flee,
help of the helpless
O abide with me!
