The Thirty-Second Week in Ordinary Time

November days are with us. There will be events over the next few days remembering those who have died in armed conflicts. Former colleagues and family members will proudly attend services at war memorials and the traditional poppies will be in evidence. Visiting graves enables us to recall lives that have been part of our experience of life and its passing.

As Catholics, we are reminded in the Creeds: “We look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come” and “We believe in the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.”

Envelopes for November Masses are on the table in the entrance. In every Eucharistic Prayer, there is a petition for the dead.

Bishop Stephen

At a Mass in his former Diocese of Westminster, he spoke of his image of parish communities as ones of love, welcome, belonging, and commitment, and as beacons shining out for everyone who is searching for a place to belong.

His name is mentioned in the Eucharistic Prayers as we focus on being in communion with Pope Leo and our Bishop.

Year B

Lead, kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom,
Lead thou me on;
The night is dark, and I am far from home,
Lead thou me on.
Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me.

— St John Henry Newman
